Daniel studied ballet at the Boston School of Ballet and at The School of American Ballet in New York. After leaving The school of American Ballet, he danced in the Washington Ballet for Two years, dancing soloist roles in ballets by Choo San Goh, Micheal Smuin, Paul Taylor and George Balanchine. In 1986, he joined the American Ballet Theater in New York under the direction of Mikhail Baryshnikov, and being promoted to soloist in 1989. In 1996, he joined the Twyla Tharp Dance Company, dancing soloist roles. In 1997, he moved to Germany to dance as soloist at the Volksbuhne am Rosa and then danced in Schauspielhaus Zurich. He was also danced at the Zurich Opera as a guest artist. In 2001, he danced in Ryuichi Sakamotofs Opera LIFE in Tokyo and Osaka. In 2005, he danced as a guest artist with the Forsythe company under the direction of William Forsythe.
